After more than two decades as the keyboardist and backing vocalist for Born of Osiris, founding member Joe Buras announced that his time with the band has come to an end. The announcement took place on social media within the last hour or so, with both Buras and the band offering their own statements on the departure.

Buras had been a member since the band’s original days as Diminished back in 2003 and was featured on every studio album to date. It’s understood that the band is currently working on their seventh, as of yet unannounced full-length release and getting ready to set out on tour next week. Just yesterday, they released their latest single, “A Mind Short Circuiting.” Watch the visualizer here.

According to Buras’ statement, his decision to leave the band was a personal one, as he wanted to seek out “new opportunities and avenues for growth” on a personal and professional level.

“Dear fans and supporters,

“After much contemplation and soul-searching, I have made the difficult decision to resign from Born of Osiris. This choice didn’t come lightly, as being a part of this band has been an incredible journey filled with unforgettable memories and experiences.

“However, as life progresses, so do our personal paths and aspirations. I believe it’s time for me to explore new opportunities and avenues for growth both personally and professionally. This decision was not made hastily, but rather with careful consideration and respect for the band and its future endeavors.

“I want to express my deepest gratitude to each and every one of you who has supported me and the band throughout the years. Your unwavering passion and dedication have meant the world to me, and I am forever grateful for the love you have shown us.

“To my bandmates, thank you for being incredible collaborators and friends. The bond we’ve formed through music is something I will always cherish, and I wish you nothing but continued success and fulfillment in your future endeavors.

“While this may mark the end of my chapter with Born of Osiris, I am excited about what the future holds and the new opportunities that await. Thank you again for your endless support, and I hope our paths will cross again in the future.

With deepest gratitude,

Joe Buras

Just as Buras wished his bandmates luck in their future undertakings, the rest of Born of Osiris released a statement thanking him for his time and contributions with the band.

“We would like to thank Joe for sharing his undeniable talent and charisma over the many years with Born of Osiris. His contribution to our music and performance is unmatched. From jamming in our parent’s basement in high school to playing shows around the world together, we have made amazing memories.

“As for the future of Born of Osiris – we will continue to operate with extreme passion, as you can hear from our release yesterday. We have a lot of new music coming your way this year as well. We are
wishing Joe the best in his future endeavors.

BOO CREW

There’s no news at this time who will be taking Buras’ place in the upcoming tour, but we’ll very likely know pretty soon, as they’re supposed to start playing gigs in Europe on March 7. That run of dates will be with Attila, Aviana, and Crown Magnetar. Shortly after that tour ends on March 31, Born of Osiris will embark on a U.S. tour with Attila, Traitors, Extortionist, and Not Enough Space from April 12 to May 26.
